Before you buy a laptop, here are some things you should know

To write a paper, teach a class, plan a research project, or surf the web efficiently, you need a laptop that meets your needs and budget. It is easy to become confused when shopping for a computer. A wide variety of models are available, ranging in price from $150 to $5,000, in addition to three operating systems.

A smaller screen provides better portability. Laptop screens range from 11 to 17 inches.

System sizing is based on display size. Giant notebooks will be bulkier and heavier, whereas smaller notebooks will be lighter. If you don’t move the laptop often, you can get by with a 15-inch model. For those who want to carry their computer around or use it on their laps, the Dell XPS 13 is an excellent choice. Under 12 years old should be able to operate an 11.6-inch or 12.5-inch display efficiently. A 17-inch laptop will be suitable if you plan to use it at your desk.

A minimum resolution of 1080p is recommended.

To get the best possible view, you should buy a laptop with a 1920 x 1080 screen resolution, also referred to as “full HD” or 1080 resolution (and you can find these laptops as low as $400). When you have that many pixels, it will be possible to scroll through web pages without scrolling and multitask between two windows simultaneously.
